KCB yesterday ended Gor Mahia’s unbeaten run after seeing off the record Kenyan champions 1-0 as the FKF Premier League resumed after the Christmas break at Nyayo Stadium.

Kennedy Owino scored the lone goal of the match that propelled the bankers to fourth in the standings with 12 points.

The win also saw KCB extend their perfect away form to four victories.

K’Ogalo who headed into the match unbeaten after four rounds drop to seventh with 10 points.

KCB coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno was full of praise for his players after defying the festive break challenges to end his former club’s unbeaten run.

“We celebrated the New Year on Sunday and some of our players returned yesterday. So for them to play very well and suck the pressure that comes with facing Gor Mahia it is a plus for them. It means the players are focused and determined every time,” said Otieno.

“However, we now have to take this away form to our home fixtures. We can’t be losing at home everyday. This has to change starting with Sunday’s game against FC Talanta.”

At Ruaraka, defending champions Tusker survived Vihiga Bullets scare to beat them 2-1 and consequently maintained their 100 percent start to the season.

Deogracious Ojok and Davin Majak struck a goal each in either half to ensure the brewers remain at the top of the log with 18 points after six rounds.

Nzoia Sugar also maintained their good start to the campaign with a 1-0 away win over Bidco United at Thika Stadium. The win, their fifth of the season, sees them retain their second spot in the standings with 16 points, two behind leaders Tusker.

Kakamega Homeboyz maintained their third place despite being held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Kariobangi Sharks at Bukungu Stadium.

In Kasarani, Cliff Nyakeya’s 32nd minute goal was enough to hand AFC Leopards their second win of the campaign as they edged off Nairobi City Stars 1-0. The win moved them to eighth with eight points.

And Kenya Police, who fired the coaching duo of Sammy Omollo and Musa Otieno a few weeks ago, bagged their first win of the season after thrashing Wazito 4-0.

Marvin Nabwire, Duke Abuya, Elvis Rupia and Leslie Otieno were all on target to hand Francis Baraza his maiden win as Police boss.
