Defending champions Tusker stretched their unbeaten run to five matches in a row after seeing off Ulinzi Stars 2-0 in a FKF Premier League match staged at Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday.

Substitutes Jackson Macharia and Shami Kibwana scored two quick-fire goals in the 64th and 66th minute to hand Robert Matano’s charges their ninth win of the campaign.

The win moved Tusker to sixth with 29 points, eight points off leaders Homeboyz and with a game to spare.

Ulinzi Stars remained 12th with 21 points. The two teams are set to meet for the return fixture on Wednesday next week.

The two teams played through a dry first half without chances as both sides defended well to avoid conceding first.

However, Matano worked his magic in the final half after introducing Jackson Macharia for David Majak and Humphrey Mieno and Shami Mwinyi for Rodgers Ouma and John Njuguna respectively.

The technical changes brought new life into the match as Macharia repaid his coach with a goal in the 64th minute.

Mwinyi did exactly the same a minute later to stretched the lead to 2-0. The brewers held on to collect their ninth victory of the season.

Elsewhere, visiting Sofapaka defeated 10-man Wazito 2-1 at Utalii Grounds to end their five match winless run.

Joseph Waithira and Lawrence Juma netted in each half to hand Batoto ba Mungu a much needed win as Aziz Okaka pulled a goal back for Wazito before being red-carded in the 85th minute.

The final match of the day saw Bandari hold KCB to a barren draw at Kasarani.
