Former Presidential candidate Peter Kenneth 'appointment' story a hoax

Former football manager Peter Kenneth has distanced himself with rumors that he had been appointed chairman of a purported caretaker committee formed by the government. Earlier Tuesday a section of social media was abuzz with news that the Ministry of Sports had disbanded Football Kenya Federation and appointed a caretaker committee – a story that looked to elicit mixed reaction.

However, through his twitter handle, Mr. Peter Kenneth – a presidential candidate in the last General Election – was categorical in denying any reports linking him with a return to national football management even on a caretaking capacity.

  • Tell whoever the guy is (the story peddler), if you know him, to stop lying to Kenyans.

Pressed further for more information on the development, the calm former Member of Parliament said he had not sought anyone’s help to talk on his behalf.

  • I have a mouth to talk for myself, I’m not aware and it’s a hoax.

The main players in football management had been given a 48 hours ultimatum by the Ministry to sort out any underlying issues and have until Wednesday evening to do so. It will be interesting to watch what will unfold should their deliberations fail to bear fruit.
