kenya jets out for the African Cup of Nations qualifier to be held at Setsotso Stadium, Maseru

Harambee Stars left for Maseru, Lesotho, yesterday in time for the two nations' 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifier scheduled for Sunday at the Setsotso Stadium in Maseru.

The team left the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 08h00 aboard a Fly 540 flight and was accompanied by head coach Adel Amrouche who will be serving the first of his touch line ban in the game.

The coach was handed a two – match ban early last week but FKF confirmed his two assistants Ken Odhiambo and James Nandwa will be handling the team in the two–legged clash that will see the winners on aggregate make it to Group C of the final phase of qualifiers which has Burkina Faso, Angola and Gabon.

A total of 18 players were in the Harambee Stars team for the game. Allan Wanga, McDonald Mariga, Victor Wanyama and Peter Opiyo are among the foreign-based players in the trip.

Meanwhile, Mariga is confident Harambee Stars can get a positive result against Lesotho.

The midfielder, who rejoined the side after being sidelined for a long time due to injury, believes they can improve on their performance in the 0-0 draw against Burundi in Nairobi on Tuesday.

"This was a friendly match and we have seen our mistakes. We can correct it because the coach was trying out different things and now we know how to right our wrongs."

"I believe we can get a positive result in Maseru when we play Lesotho. It is possible to do that with our team."

He also commented on the sending off Victor Wanyama.

"I struggled in the midfield after he was sent off and I agree the decision affected us."

Mariga came on after interval as Kenya settled for a barren draw against Burundi at Nyayo stadium on Tuesday evening.

Stars will miss the services of first choice custodian Arnold Origi when they face.

The 30-year-old, who turns out for Lillestrom in Norway, has revealed that his club will not release him for the crucial match since its outside the dates set by World Football Governing Fifa for international matches.

He also called on Caf to consider changing its calendar to be in tandem with the rest of the World.

"Caf should seriously think on how they plan and set up their fixtures. It's difficult to be released for games outside the dates set by Fifa for international matches. Really disappointed to be missing this weekend's Africa Cup of Nations (ACN) qualifier," he posted on his official Facebook page.

Meanwhile Harambee Stars will host Burundi in a friendly match at the Nyayo National Stadium this afternoon as part of its preparations for the Sunday tie against Lesotho. Victor Wanyama and his brother MacDonald Mariga are the only foreign-based players in camp at the moment.
