Tanzanian Bongo Flava star Mbosso Khan is set to headline the inaugural Warm Up Series concert at Al Capone Lounge in Nairobi, alongside a lineup of Kenyan musicians.

Organised by DonPesa Events, the showcase will bring together East African music acts for an evening of live performances, with doors opening at 6pm and entertainment expected to run late into the night.

Mbosso will be joined by Kenyan performers Bensoul, Iyanii, Njerae, Watendawili and Dyana Cods.

Born Mbwana Yusuph Kilungi in Kibiti, Tanzania, Mbosso first rose to prominence in the mid-2010s as a member of Bongo Flava group Yamoto Band.

Performing under the name Maromboso, he shared the stage with Aslay, Beka Flavour and Enock Bella. The group became popular with songs such as ‘Nitakupwelepweta’ and ‘Cheza Kwa Madoido’.

Following Yamoto Band’s disbandment in 2017, Mbosso briefly returned to his hometown before joining Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi record label in early 2018.

He subsequently launched his solo career, establishing himself as one of East Africa’s notable Bongo Flava performers, particularly through romantic ballads.

His early solo releases, including ‘Watakubali’, ‘Nadekezwa’ and ‘Hodari’, attracted millions of views online and earned him regional recognition.

He later released his debut album, Definition of Love, in 2021, followed by the Khan EP in 2022.

Other popular releases, including ‘Pawa’, ‘Tamu’, ‘Maajab’, ‘Sina Nyota’ and ‘Sele’, have further strengthened his presence in the East African music scene.
