Gospel entertainer and media personality Samuel Muraya, popularly known as DJ Mo, has been fined Sh5,000 after admitting to two traffic offences at the Milimani Traffic Court.

DJ Mo was charged over an incident along Thika Road near Roasters in Nairobi, where traffic police officers stopped him while driving his Jaguar.

According to the charges, he failed to stop when directed by the officers and was later arrested and booked at Kasarani Police Station.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo, DJ Mo pleaded guilty to driving without a valid third-party insurance certificate and disobeying police instructions.

He was fined Sh3,000 for the insurance offence, with an alternative sentence of 30 days in prison, and Sh2,000 for disobeying police instructions, with an alternative 21-day jail term.

In his defence, the entertainer told the court that his insurance had expired the previous day and that he had forgotten to renew it.

He also explained that he was rushing to pick up his sick child from school, which contributed to his decision not to stop when flagged down by police.

The incident also reportedly caused him to miss a scheduled flight to the United States.

After paying the Sh5,000 fine, DJ Mo was released.

He later shared a video from the court premises, using the experience to remind motorists to keep their vehicle documents up to date.

“Forgetting to renew insurance just for a day has landed me in court. Anyway, are these courts for men or not? Remember to check yours,” he wrote.

The court appearance comes amid public attention surrounding his marriage to gospel musician and preacher Linet Munyali, popularly known as Size 8.

The couple has faced scrutiny following allegations of infidelity against DJ Mo, which gained attention after screenshots purportedly showing intimate exchanges between him and another woman circulated online.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, DJ Mo denied the allegations and cautioned against the use of fabricated screenshots and AI-generated content to damage people’s reputations.

“My wife is my good friend. I have a wife. I never badmouth her… What matters is my wife is okay. I love her so much. I treasure her and she knows,” he said.

Size 8 has also publicly spoken about forgiveness and unity in their marriage.
