(Instagram/Akothee) Kenyan musician Akothee has opened up about her complex relationship with Nelly Oaks, revealing that he is often the one initiating their fights and breakups. Despite popular belief that she frequently "picks and drops" him, she clarified in an Instagram post that this narrative doesn't tell the full story. "I have never wronged Nelly Oaks in our 10 years of relationship; he can attest to that. No woman will ever leave a good relationship. I see that many of you think I'm the one picking and dropping Nelly, but let me start the year with honesty. According to her, she and Nelly often go their separate ways, but their bond brings them back together. "We go our separate ways and focus on our own paths, but the challenge is the strong bond between us. Each time we break up, I block him and delete his number, but when we cross paths again, we just pick up right where we left off," Akothee wrote. She stressed that she's an "honest, realistic, and loving partner" who commits to "one man at a time." "I want a Nelly in my life. You have no idea what a perfect relationship looks like. It takes two to validate that," she said. In a recent interview with The Standard, she called that marriage "premature," referring to it as "a rehearsal." Looking forward, she expressed her intent to marry "the man of [her] dreams" while acknowledging the uncertainties that come with relationships, saying, "I also need to leave room for disappointments because these sons of Pharaoh can show you dust." Despite her marriage to Omosh, Akothee defended her ongoing bond with Nelly, describing him as a supportive figure in her life. "People think that I left him... He is the person who built this brand and has seen me through depression three or four times," she shared. In her social media post, she emphasised her loyalty, saying, "I love him with all my honesty."
