Embu University College may get a new name that identifies with the uniqueness of the county and its people. This is set to happen as the college prepares to get a charter.
Principal Daniel Mugendi announced the institution would soon convene a meeting where leaders will deliberate on a name that is in line with the 'Embu identity'.
Prof Mugendi said there was need to give the institution a name that would identify it with a local hero or a celebrated landmark.
"We propose a name that will reflect the cultural diversity of our people and their heroes," Mugendi said.
He added the institution will get a new name before it is awarded a charter.
"It's difficult to change the name once the charter is awarded," he said.
