State officers using foreign trips to make extra money

The renewed war against corruption has forced some State agencies to devise means of making extra coins without attracting the radar of sleuths in the purge.

The Grapevine has learnt that foreign benchmarking trips and workshops have become the new stream of extra income for top officers in government institutions.

An independent institution was recently smoked out for planning an extravagant trip that would have cost the country millions of shillings in a benchmarking trip to several countries both in Africa and in Europe.

The expose has since scuttled the plan and it is not clear whether agency would proceed with the planned trip.

Our sources have hinted that several state agencies creating trips to advance huge allowances to their top officials.
