Ten per cent of children in the county sit on the floor while studying in school, Uwezo Kenya learning assessment report has indicated.

This, the report says, is occasioned by the poor infrastructure in public schools. Speaking during the launch of the report, Uwezo Kenya county co-ordinator Joshua Kemboi said the report was a replica of the 90 schools they visited.

"We visited 1,087 households and 2,208 children were assessed. We realised the county average of the children on the floor while in class was similar to that of the national average. But a child in East Wareng is 28 times likely to sit on the floor compared to one in Eldoret West," said Kemboi.
