The Government will hold a meeting with officials of Nairobi County and the Matatu Welfare Association to address problems in the transport sector. The parties are expected to adopt a Memorandum of Understanding in the Tuesday meeting.
MWA chairperson Dickson Mbugua said they had agreed on several issues during an earlier meeting with the county government on Friday. Among agreements was a requirement that operators submit their Sacco licenses to City Hall for review.
Matatu operators had last Wednesday threatened to withhold their services over Governor Evans Kidero’s directive to ban their vehicles from the Central Business District.
