City Hall to stop manual payments from next year

Nairobi City Hall

With the March 31 deadline for land rates and business permit renewals fast approaching, Nairobi City County Government has announced that it will stop accepting cash payments in the next financial year.

All payments for land rates, parking, rentals and construction approvals will be migrated to the electronic payment platform, Ejiji Pay, the ICT County Executive Anne Lokidor (pictured) has said.

This is aimed at boosting revenue collection and easing delivery of services to city residents. “The high and rapid uptake of e-payments show Nairobians are happy with the convenience and ease with which they transact with the county government through Ejiji Pay,” said Ms Lokidor, who oversaw launch of e-payments portal in 2014.
