Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has appointed Kitili Mbathi as its new director general.

Mr Mbathi, 57, who before joining KWS worked at CFC Stanbic Bank as its chief executive officer, has replaced Wilson Kiprono, who was serving in the same position in an acting capacity.

The new director general declined to outline his vision and instead asked for more time to familiarise himself with internal operations.

"As for now, I opt to remain silent regarding my vision in the service, until I familiarise myself with some internal operations," said Mbathi during a press briefing in Nairobi.
