Kenya: The National Non-Governmental Organisations Co-ordination Board has dismissed claims that an event to mark its 25th anniversary cost taxpayers' over Sh100 million. This comes after the Devolution and Planning Ministry claimed it funded the 25th anniversary celebrations of NGOs, which kicked off yesterday, to a tune of Sh100 million.

The board  termed the allegations false and misleading, maintaining that the budget for the event was Sh16 million. "The true position is that the NGOs Council requested for Sh26 million towards its celebrations but the board agreed to give it Sh16 million," said board chairman Joshua Leparashau. He warned against any planned disruption of the event.
