Anti-graft agency summons governor over jobs

The anti-graft agency has summoned Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha over claims of irregular appointments made at the county level.

Twaha is supposed to appear before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission offices at the Integrity Centre today to face investigators handling the case.

The commission invited the governor through a letter dated June 29 addressed to him revealing they are investigating allegations of irregularities in appointment of 13 officials to the county.

”To facilitate our investigations, we invite you for interview and statement recording at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission offices at Integrity Centre on Monday July 6, 2020,” said part of the letter by EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak.

Those named as being irregularly appointed to the county include CEC member for Trade, Tourism and Industrialisation Dismas Mwasambu, Legal Advisor Maurice Kilonzo, Chief of Staff Mohamed Bute Galgalo, Advisor former MP Julius Ndegwa and PA acting MD Lamu Water Service Company Paul Kimani. Commission officials said the probe was commissioned following a complaint.

The probe comes as some tenures of County Public Service Boards, which are tasked to recruit for counties draws to an end.
