Mombasa, Kenya: Taveta constituency parliamentary loser Basil Criticos claims that he lost the last election to his rival, area MP Dr Naomi Shaban because the voters were enticed with food as a bribe.

Criticos was testifying Monday in a filed petition before Justice Fred Ochieng, sitting in Mombasa. According to results announced by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Criticos got 6,251 votes against Shaban’s 6,357.

Criticos has filed the petition to nullify the election of Shaban on grounds that there were irregularities in the election that includes voter bribery.

He said that before the Election Day, a CDF vehicle was used to ferry food and other stuff, a move he termed as illegal.
