Nyeri County reviews revenue collection target from Sh800m to Sh1b

When leaders from Nyerri led by Governor Mutahi Kahiga met Prersident William Ruto in Nairobi.

Nyeri County Government has revised its revenue target, increasing it from Sh844 million to Sh1 billion.

The county government will also review the revenue collection system with an aim to generate more income.

This comes after the approval of the supplementary budget for the year 2022-23

Speaking after the approval of the adjustments to the first supplementary budget, the chairperson of the budget and Appropriations Committee, Gibson Wahinya, said that the adjustments made will see the total county budget rise to Sh7.9 billion from Sh7.5 billion.

Wahinya also said that the Finance and Economic department will have the highest increment of Sh12 million which will help in the completion of ongoing projects.

"Today we approved the supplementary budget for Nyeri County, We will realign the priorities of the county and the departments so as to ensure better service delivery," he said.

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga assented to the bill in which, Sh2.28 billion will go towards development projects of the county, while Sh5.32 billion will be spent on recurrent expenditure.

Kahiga said the county would prioritise health services, which will receive the lion's share of Sh2.25 billion ensuring that services run efficiently and effectively.
