Waiguru censures MCAs for reducing funds to her flagship projects

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has criticised the move by the county assembly to amend her memorandum on the Supplementary Budget II, in the process reducing funds to some of her flagship projects.

The ward reps reallocated Sh100 million from the construction of Kerugoya Medical Complex and Sh30 million from fuel for roads construction programme, to ward projects.

“The reallocation is both illegal and impractical considering that the amounts have been significantly spent,” she said, adding that the alteration will hamper universal health care delivery and the ongoing in-house road rehabilitation programme.

In a press statement, Waiguru (pictured) rubbished claims by some MCAs that she had included Sh90 million in the budget towards the governor’s residence and furniture.

Meanwhile, Jubilee Party has instituted disciplinary proceedings against 10 MCAs for defying of party directives.
