Police are investigating claims that unknown people are using Chuka University Vice Chancellor Erastus Njoka's name to extort money from locals with a promise of jobs.

The impostors are reportedly deceiving unsuspecting residents they will give them jobs in the UN and Kenya Red Cross.

The police said the criminals were taking advantage of desperate job seekers.

County police boss Mary Omari promised to arrest those behind the scheme.

"Investigations are already on and we will prosecute the culprits," she said.

Prof Njoka said on Tuesday he did not operate any Facebook account through which money could be paid in exchange for jobs as claimed.
