Event to equip school leavers with business skills

By STANDARD REPORTERThe Eastern Africa and European Chambers of Commerce (EAECC) have jointly organised an event to equip school leavers with entrepreneurial skills. "Through the five-day event, we hope to attract more than 500 delegates, exhibitors and sponsors from across the globe as part of the programme to empower the youth with business skills," said Angela Mueni, the EAECC Public Relations Director.Sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the five-day International Education Conference is scheduled to run from September 12-16 in Mombasa. It is expected to draw both and private and public schools, colleges and universities from across the country.The conference is expected to give educationists from all over the world a chance to share information about appropriate education and training for school leavers that can be effectively implemented within the East African region.Mueni says that the forum will sensitise educators, policy makers and administrators on how to develop and execute strategies that will keep their institutions on top of the latest education trends."We also want to expose those in the education sector to international best practices as well as how to effectively use modern technology in the entire education field."The Director said the other key areas that are going to be dealt with include strategies on how to gain competitor insights, initiate, develop and put in practice education strategies in schools across the globe.Others areas on the agenda re E-learning, entrepreneurship and business, talent management, cultural diversification, and solidifying relationships with current stakeholders."We are inviting education leaders and key stakeholders from across the world to attend the conference and brainstorm in these areas," she said."For many of us, it is a rare opportunity to get our points across, present our ideas, get insights of what is happening in the industry, get new contacts and establish partnerships."EAECC is the regional body for an network of Accredited Chambers of Commerce across Eastern Africa region. It boasts an unparalled geographic spread of the EAECC, with every Chamber providing representation, services, information and guidance to its members.
