Defunct firm searches for 22,000 lost clients

Some 22,000 life insurance policyholders with the defunct Kenya National Assurance Company cannot be traced to receive their claims totaling at least Sh600 million. Kenya National Assurance Company (2001) Chief Executive Officer Alexander Kaminchia said the firm had written to all the affected policyholders using postal addresses they had furnished the defunct insurance firm in vain.

"We have written to each one of them and have received some RTS (return to sender). They should come forward because we will close shop in June, next year," Kaminchia told a Public Investment Committee hearing at Parliament Buildings yesterday. So far, the firm has paid 30,000 policyholders, including institutional holders, pension funds and other small individual life policyholders.
