One of Kenya’s leading car rental and hospitality firms, Glory Car Hire Tours and Safaris, has opened a boutique resort overlooking Mount Kenya in Timau.

The facility is 34 kilometres from Nanyuki town on the edge of Ngare Ndare forest.

Managing Director Riaz Noorany said the Regency Mount Kenya View Hotel offers 20 fully furnished rooms and a conference facility that can accommodate up to 150 people. It also has a heated swimming pool and ample space for team building activities.

“The vision of having a hotel in the Mt Kenya Region was to add an ‘adventurous’ dimension to the hotels we have in the city centres and along the coast line, and to expand our choices for our customers in different climatic environments,’’ he told Weekend Business in an interview in Mombasa.

“We have confidence in Destination Kenya hence our decision to set up this kind of business. We will be looking forward to further investments as soon we break even on the current ones,” said Mr Noorany.

During the festive season, occupancy at the facility ranged between 60 per cent and fully booked.

Veteran hotelier Raheel Esmail runs the hotel with a team of eight staff.

“We are moving with trends and will be presenting the facility for classification once we are done with all paper works this year,” Noorany said when asked whether the hotel has been classified by the Tourism Regulatory Authority
