Consumer goods maker Bidco Africa is implementing what will be one of the country’s largest corporate solar projects. The manufacturer will instal 3,920 solar panels at its Thika headquarters, replacing 12,500 square metres of roofing and making the firm energy independent. The 1.2 MW project will deliver power at half the grid cost, saving Bidco Sh650 million over the panels’ 25-year lifecycle. Bidco presently produces 70 per cent of its power using agricultural waste.
