Export Trading Group Limited is calling on companies to boost their corporate social responsibility (CSR) kitty in a bid to uplift the welfare of the vulnerable people in the society.
According to the Group's senior manager Patrick Kariuki, CSR should be seen as a way of appreciating the community for supporting a company's growth plan, and not an item that eats into company's profits.
Mr Kariuki was speaking recently during the organisation's tour of the Christ Chapel Children's Home in Huruma where they offered their support in terms of food stuff including rice, drinks, peas, maize flour, sugar and coffee.
"We want to create a lasting relationship with this institution that is changing the lives of many needy children in this slum. We have seen how pathetic the situation is, and therefore more needs to be done," said Mr Kariuki.
The Children's Home, which started in 2006 with four children, now has a population of 64, with the youngest child aged 1.5 years while the eldest is 16.
