Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho upbeat tourism will find its footing again

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has said county and national governments have come up with plans to boost the tourism sector after decline last year due to insecurity.

"We have embarked on marketing Mombasa as a tourist destination because we are confident the issue of security is being addressed adequately," said Joho.

The governor said he is also focused on the expansion of health facilities by putting up four new hospitals to meet the rising demand, adding that he is optimistic he will meet his targets given that the share is expected to increase.

"Brighter days are ahead of us despite many challenges we have undergone. We will undertake projects that will make a difference in people's lives," said Joho.

"I want to light up every streets to ensure nobody in every corner of the town is walking in darkness at night as part of measures to improve security for the residents."
