Woman assaults husband over donated cash

An man, 80, has been admitted to hospital after he was assaulted by his wife following a domestic feud in Gucha South. He was admitted at St Camillus Tabaka Mission Hospital with injuries inflicted by his wife following disagreement over money from the Older Persons Cash Transfer programme.

The hospital’s officer in charge Father Raphael Wanjau confirmed the patient had been admitted with deep cuts on the upper lip, ear, lower limbs and backside. He said the patient was in stable condition.

Ikoro sub-location assistant chief Joseph Nyandika said the woman, Robina Omweri, 68, was arrested and taken to Ogembo Police Station but officers declined to take her in, saying there was no complainant.

Witnesses said the couple had earlier quarreled over the cash from the social protection programme.

Gucha Social Services Officer Rhodah Kandie confirmed the man was under the Older Persons Cash Transfer programme and the wife was collecting the monthly allowance because he was said to be ailing.
