NAROK, KENYA: Over 60,000 residents of Narok County are set to benefit from water supply after the completion of Sh1.5billion water project which was being undertaken by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Kenyan government.
The town dwellers who have for many years been doing without piped water have something to smile about as laying of pipes to supply an additional 5,000 cubic metres of water to the residents is almost complete.
The multi-million project which was started two years was officially handed to the County government as the custodian on Monday.
Speaking during the handing over of the project in Narok town, the Narok Water and Sewerage Company (Narwasco) Managing Director, Wilson Pere said the project will see over 60,000 more people get access to clean drinking water in the town.
Currently, he said, they were only supplying paltry 1,000cubic meters of water to the residents per day against the town's demand of 6,000 cubic meters per day a matter that has forced the residents to purchase water from exploitative vendors.
