The Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) Board has appointed John Mwaka as the acting chief executive officer.

Mr Mwaka will be in charge of the institution until a substantive chief is recruited. Board chairman John Nthuku said Mwaka was picked after the exit of Carilus Ademba who has been the CEO since SASRA was established in 2010.

“The board shall give Mr Mwaka the necessary support and guidance to execute his duties,” said Nthuku. Prior to this appointment, Mwaka was the head of policy analysis, research and development at Sasra.

He holds an MBA in Strategic Management, a BSc in Business Administration (finance) and a diploma in Co-operative Management.

Accepting the appointment, Mwaka said, “I am looking forward to working with the Sacco sub-sector and move it forward in the time I serve as CEO.”
