A high school teacher has been charged with administering an unlawful oath to self-confessed serial killer Philip Onyancha.

Ms Elizabeth Wambui Kimani, 40, was charged with administering an oath to Onyancha, 32, at Mahiga High School 14 years ago, allegedly binding the him to commit murder when called upon to do so.

The prosecution led by Chief Inspector Francis Ndiema indicated to court they would be preferring more charges against the teacher.

Onyancha, who has been listed as a key witness in the case, says his teacher developed an unusual liking towards him in his early years at the said school.

He claims Wambui could invite him over to her house and offer him food and drinks, which were mixed with unknown concoction.

Onyancha, who has been charged with murder, further claims the concoction took toll of him and he could visit the teacher’s house even without invitation.

He has accused the teacher of lacerating his chest and drawing some blood and then applying a black powder on the same spot.

Onyancha claims after the incident he lost control of his actions and could sneak out of school on the teacher’s instructions and do funny things.

He has accused his former Kiswahili and CRE teacher of appearing in his dreams and instructing him on what to do.

Onyancha says the alleged demonic powers developed fully between 1998 and 2006.

He claims his first spiritual encounter with the said powers was in 2006 when the teacher appeared to him in his sleep and instructed him on when he was to start using his powers and how to do so.

The self-confessed serial killer was arrested after he kidnapped and murdered a boy in Dagoretti.

It was after he was arrested that he confessed to having murdered 17 people in different parts of the country.

Decomposed body

Those Onyancha claimed he murdered include Catherine Chelang’at, 32, who went missing on November 22, 2008, and whose decomposed body was found on the rooftop of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company offices in Karen.

He has also confessed to killing two commercial sex workers, Hellen Nyambura and Jackline Wambui, whose bodies were found in lodging rooms at Rwambogo Bar and Restaurant and Suitable Bar in Thika Town.

Onyancha and two of his alleged accomplices, Tobias Nyabuhanga and Douglas Makori, have been charged with murder.

At a Kibera court Wednesday, Wambui denied the charge but will be remanded for four days for the investigating officer to complete his investigations.

She pleaded with court to release her on bond arguing she has been in custody for the past two weeks.

The case against her would be mentioned on Monday next week for further directions.
