Kindiki to Gachagua: I will embarrass you again in Ol Kalou by-election

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has warned Rigathi Gachagua, his predecessor, that he will embarrass him again in the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election.
Kindiki exuded confidence that the broad-based government ruling party will win the seat left vacant following the death of David Kiaraho in March.
He cited the recent crushing victory in Mbeere North, where UDA's candidate floored the DP party, which had the backing of the united opposition.
"Gachagua is a small man in politics. You know what happened at Mbeere North. We will deliver the win for the Olkalou seat," Gachagua said.

The Deputy President was speaking in Eldama Ravine during a tour during which he inspected and commissioned development projects, including a market, new roads, and rural electrification.
The late Kiaraho held the Ol Kalou seat on a Jubilee Party ticket, and the party is also determined to retain it amid friendly rivalry with the DCP party.
"I have heard that he (Rigathi Gachagua) has left the country. We are telling him to stay there and watch as we floor his team. It will be too embarrassing for him to be around during that time," said Kindiki.
He insisted that the opposition has no agenda or plan to address the country's challenges.
The Deputy President warned youths against being used by politicians to pursue their personal and selfish interests.
"Yesterday I saw some youths who wanted to demonstrate over alleged fuel prices, protesting will not reduce the prices," he added.
He cautioned leaders against using youths as fuel for the fuel hike and high cost of living protests, yet their children were not part of the protesters.
He asked opposition leaders to stop inciting youths to engage in violent demonstrations, saying street protests are not a solution to the fuel crisis.
The DP said the fuel price hike is due to the war in Iran, which has disrupted the global oil sector and raised import costs.
“It’s not only a Kenyan problem but global; all countries in the world have been affected by the disruption and have reported higher fuel prices,” he added.
He stated that the government has addressed the fuel crisis following interventions such as a reduction in VAT from 16 per cent to 8 per cent and the dispensing of a Sh6.2 billion subsidy to stabilise fuel prices.
He insisted that politicians should cease inciting the people of Kenya to break the law or destroy their country, as the solution to the fuel challenge is being addressed.
Kindiki accused the opposition of inciting Kenyans over the fuel crisis, without offering any meaningful solutions beyond urging young people to protest.
“We don’t want people who have run out of ideas after squandering their time in office to incite young people to destroy their country. We cannot allow lawlessness in our country,” DP emphasised.
