Raila delivers Sh10m gift to Kigumo hospital after student request

After receiving a dairy cow from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Gideon Gichuki on Thursday got another gift from the ODM leader.

On September 4, the ODM leaders attended Gichuki’s birthday at Komothai ward, Githunguri Sub-County.

Raila would then gift Gakuya, 22, a third-year student at the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) with a dairy cow.

Gakuya is studying project management.

Gichuki later made a personal request to Odinga, asking him to purchase an X-Ray machine at his local hospital.

“On Thursday, October 21, Raila honoured the request when he handed the equipment worth Sh10 million to the Kigumo Level 4 Hospital.

“I had the chance to ask for something that would benefit me as an individual, but I thought that about the people.

This machine was necessary to the needs of my people,” Gichuki told The Standard by phone.

“Politicians think of the current generation while leaders think about the next generation. I think that asking for an X-Ray machine was better than asking for maybe a vehicle. This would save the next generation,” said Gichuki, adding that he is not planning to vie for a political post in the coming elections.

Gichuki is the son of a former Councilor now MCA) for Komothai ward.

“Maybe I will venture into politics later, but not in 2022,” Gakuya, who invited Raila for his birthday via a text message said.

“I have been a staunch supporter of Raila. I looked for his number, then invited him to my birthday via a text which he honoured.”
