Remarkable flow of water into Ndakaini dam has been registered in the past two days.
The largest water reservoir for the city received 8.580 cubic metres per second from 7.022 cubic metres on Saturday.
Ndakaini dam, with a storage capacity of 70 million cubic metres, currently has 25.866 million cubic metres of water (about 37 per cent of its capacity).
Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company acting Managing Director Nahashon Muguna said the remarkable rise of the water level in the dam follows heavy rains experienced in the Aberdare Ranges since Thursday.
Mr Muguna said the inflow is expected to rise by nine cubic metres per second by today.

“Heavy rains come towards end of months April and early May, and we hope the facility will harvest to the maximum,” said Muguna.
The Managing Director commended Murang’a residents for protecting water catchments in the Aberdare Ranges.
In the past two months MPs Ngugi Nduati (Gatanga), Ruth Mwaniki (Kigumo) and Peter Kimari (Mathioya) and Ahadi Trust's executive director Stanley Kamau led residents in planting trees in the area.
“Last week, Aberdare Ranges received less rainfall as compared to Mt Kenya, but the situation has improved since last week, with reports of increased inflow at Ndakaini dam,” said Muguna.
According to Murang’a Meteorological Department Director Paul Murage, the upper highlands and Mt Kenya region will continue receiving more rains in the coming days.
“In Aberdare zone, rains have been inadequate and we hope in the coming week the area will receive a lot of rain,” said Mr Murage.
