Safaricom receives Tier III Certification

Kenya’s biggest Telco, Safaricom has been given a Tier III certification as the best telecommunications company in terms of data service performance and efficiency.
The Data Center located in Thika joins the list of certified institutions evaluated through forensic assessment by a group of experts from Uptime Institute, a third party American firm. It now joins a list of companies in the globe with best infrastructure performance.
The Telco giant joins East Africa Data Centre (EADC) which was the first Kenyan company to get certification from the Institute.
The National Police Service through its NPS Data Centre is also among the three certified companies in Kenya.
Safaricom’s Director for Risk Management Nicholas Mulila expressed his joy saying , “We are honoured to have Thika Data Centre certified for international best practices in data center design and operations”.

Some of the listed companies by the institute in East Africa include, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and Millicom International Cellular in Tanzania.
