Fai Amario dies after short illness

Controversial Naivasha businessman Gabriel Njoroge is dead.Njoroge, who started as a local brewer, passed on after a short illness in a Nairobi hospital.

Njoroge, also known as Fai Amario, died at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi while undergoing treatment.

According to a family member, Njoroge was admitted to the hospital six weeks ago.

"It’s true we have lost Fai and we have started burial plans in one of the hotels in Naivasha," said a relative who did not wish to be named.

He started the thriving wine business that took the country by storm.

He caused a furore in 2000 when he placed advertisement in the daily newspapers looking for a wife.

In 1997, he was arrested and charged with a macabre murder of one of his employees.

Njoroge will be best remembered for starting the motorcycle taxi business in Naivasha in 2004.

He leaves behind a wife and several children.
