A mother and her three children have died after a fire razed down their house early Saturday morning, in Kabocha village, Kabete constituency, Kiambu County.

The 40-year-old woman and her children aged between 10 and 20 years were residing in a seven-room mabati house that villagers said caught fire, razing it down and killing the family.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Speaking after the incident, eyewitnesses said though the firefighters had arrived, it was too late to put the fire out as it had spread uncontrollably despite collective efforts from the villagers.
