Ulinzi Starlets will seek to defend their FKF Women’s Super Cup when they face off against Vihiga Queens on Saturday at Kenya Utalii College Sports Club from 2pm.

The clash which will be the curtain raiser for the 2023-2024 FFK Women’s Premier League season that begins next week features Premier League champions Queens and FKF Women’s Cup holders Starlets.

The soldiers won the Super Cup during its inaugural 2021 year when they edged off Thika Queens 11-10 on post-match penalties. The match had ended 1-1 during the regular time.

To book their spot at this year’s finals, Starlets once again proved that they are a formidable side after hitting Nakuru City Queens 3-1 in the FKF Cup finals last July.

However, Starlets face a real test in Vihiga Queens.

The Western Region outfit boasts of Harambee Starlets defender Phoebe Oketch and Janet Bundi, a duo fresh from leading Kenya to the final round of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

On the other hand, Starlets takes pride in Sheryl Angachi who scored Harambee Stralets’decisive penalty as Kenya knocked out Cameroon 4-3 on penalties on Tuesday. Others include Mercy Airo and Khetsia Ngaira.
