Presidential candidate William Ruto is nothing if not brazen when he presents himself as the man to save Kenyans from hunger, while at the same time criticising the government for trying to do just that.

What Ruto omits to tell you is what occurred in 2008 when, as Agriculture minister, he had the perfect opportunity to introduce failsafe measures to ensure Kenyans need never go hungry again. That did not happen.
