Ken Osinde, the Chief of Staff at Deputy President William Ruto’s office, is dead.

Osinde died at a hospital in Nairobi on Friday morning, December 10, officers within the deputy president’s office told The Standard.

“It is true we have lost him. Family will issue a comprehensive statement later today (Friday),” said DP William Ruto’s aide, who spoke in confidence.

Osinde drew media headlines on November 26, 2021, when he was barred from addressing the Annual Devolution Conference on behalf of his boss, Ruto, who had been lined up to close the three-day governors' convention.

On that day, Ruto had political engagements in Nyandarua County.

Osinde was born on August 18, 1962, in Kenya. He held an M.A. degree in Linguistics from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Instructively, the M.A. was the first one ever on Sheng.

After teaching at the University of Nairobi, he landed a managerial job at the National Bank of Kenya where he rose to the position of Head of Strategic Planning.

In 2010, he was named Kenya’s ambassador to Germany.

In his university days, Osinde was a talented actor and would later star in Kenya’s premiere soap opera Tushauriane.

He co-starred with household names such as Dennis Kashero, Paul Onsongo and the late Tony Msalame.
