Mutahi Ngunyi rewards musician who added music to Kagwe’s ‘gerrit’ sentiments

On Thursday this week, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe stated that any Kenyan can contract the Coronavirus and warned against a casual approach adopted by a section of the population.

However, the manner in which he put it was somewhat humorous and netizens quickly jumped on it, creating all sorts of hilarious memes and videos.

“You can gerrit, I can gerrit, anybody gerrit,” he said.

As a result, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi challenged creative minds to play around with the quote by adding music and he promised a Sh10,000 reward.

“Can SOMEONE add some MUSIC to this? My Fren Murkomen and I will give an AWARD of 10K to the BEST rendition.

“It will be our SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY contribution to the CORONA fight! Post your phone NUMBER!,” he wrote.

Kenyans online did not hesitate to showcase their creativity and based on votes online, pianist Victor Kimetto was declared the winner.

Ngunyi, in conjunction with Senator Kipchumba Murkomen promised to send the money to Kimetto via mobile money transfer.

“The winner of 10K rendition of GERRIT by Mutahi Kagwe is Mr Kimetto @Totsvi

“My FREN @kipmurkomen and I will send the money by mpesa for post-curfew drinks. Send your number through private message,” he remarked.
