KNH to resume operations next week

Services at Kenyatta National Hospital are set to resume fully on Monday.

This is after some services like clinics and elective surgeries were suspended as per a directive from the Ministry of Health due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Usual traffic at the facility, which is the country’s largest referral hospital had reduced due to a travel ban in and out of Nairobi.

A notice dated May 5, from KNH Deputy Director Surgical Services Kennedy Ondede notes that services will resume on May 11, 2020.

“Due to increased inquiries and demand for services by our clients we have been directed to resume our normal services effective Monday May 11, 2020,” reads the notice.

“By this notice you are requested to provide duty rotas for coverage in the wards, clinics and theatres by close of business Thursday May 7, 2020,” the notice addressed to heads of departments reads.

Dr Ondede said KNH has put in place protective measures for clients and healthcare workers. “Individual clinics are kindly asked to liaise with health information for scheduling of appointments,” the communiqué adds.

The country has 621 confirmed cases of Covid-19.
