How about Vice President Michelle Obama?

Living

In 2008, America had the chance to decide on either having the first woman Vice President or having their first black First Lady.

Normally, vice presidential nominees would be compared with fellow VP nominees, but this was Michelle Obama. The media couldn’t help but depict her in head-to-head ‘battles’ with John McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin. After all, they are age mates.

While Palin is a decorated politician, media personality and all, Michelle has the clout that moves mountains.

Michelle is that sophisticated career woman who easily makes men nervous in the boardroom. Combine her Harvard and Princeton degrees with her good looks and charm and you have your perfect to-go-to option for whatever office, even the office of the Vice President.

She prides herself in a house beaming of good health; a mother to two beautiful and well behaved daughters, and a wife to equally brilliant husband, Barack Obama, a prolific politician and America’s first black President! The Obamas are phenomenal, all round, and you certainly don’t want to take them for a ride, more so not with six-foot Michelle.

Michelle is not new to cheers and applause in rallies. Case in point, the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign in 2016. Other than her memorable speech during the Democratic National Convention where Hillary was nominated, Michelle got the most cheers at a North Carolina event where she accompanied Hillary. There is just something in her that makes you happy when she stands up, and speaks.

Michelle doesn’t stick out as an all-rounded politician, but her influence is unquestionable. She stands out as a unique figure in the American political landscape. She is not only popular with her party faithful (Democrats), she also has appeal with Republicans and independents alike.

According to Gallup polling, she left the White House with a 68% approval rating, not to forget that she was named the most admired woman in the world for two years, back-to-back, in another poll by the analytics and advisory firm.

Michelle does not see herself as a political figure and has, from time to time, maintained that she has no interest in running for office. The few instances she has campaigned for candidates have also been conspicuously only weeks before the election, choosing to be ‘absent’ for most part of the campaigns.

Also, Michelle is not on record for having ever announced an endorsement on her own; but always as the Obamas. Interestingly, this time it is different. Barack’s endorsement of Joe Biden stood alone, for the first time. Could it be because Michelle is a major endorser in her own right?

That aside, how much leverage will she add Biden in the 2020 race by endorsing him? And what if, she joined him, the ultimate running mate?

Americans made their choice in 2008 and again in 2012, and she outdid herself. What would hold Americans from entrusting her with a bigger role this time? Over to you Joe.
