45-year-old man charged with killing ex-lover’s child

Charles Muriuki, a 45-year-old man was on Monday, October 14, charged with the murder of a 12-year-old boy in Mathira constituency, Nyeri County.

The court was informed that the suspect was a former lover of the child’s mother.

Mr Muriuki was charged on grounds that on September 26, 2019, he killed the primary school pupil and dumped his body at the Ragati forest.

The suspect in September 2019, reportedly led detectives to the forest where the child’s body was retrieved.

Appearing before Justice Abigail Mshilla, Mr Muriuki was released on the condition that he should not be involved in misconduct or interfere with witnesses.

This came after he denied the charges and was released on a bond of Sh 500,000 with a surety of a similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on November 21, 2019, while the hearing is scheduled to begin on December 21, 2019.
