Magoha: Wind up activities this term ahead of KCPE, KCSE

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha (pictured) has spelt out this year’s examination road map and instructed school heads to wind up all activities this term.

Just like in the past three years, Prof Magoha said, schools must conclude all forms of co-curricular activities and other commitments, including visiting days this term.

The CS also said the national examination papers have already been printed and are ready for deployment at the appropriate time. He warned examination cheating cartels that they stand a zero chance this time round.

“I want to confirm to the nation that we have set, proof read and printed the examinations. We have also enhanced the security features on the examination process,” the CS said during an education day event at St Stephen Lwanya Girls in Matayos constituency.

He said no parent will be allowed in school during the third term. The ministry banned third term school activities and parents visits after it emerged that fake examination papers were sneaked in during such visits.

The CS cautioned those doubting level of preparations for this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

He said like previous years, the government is committed to ensure the examination process, from the registration of candidates to the issuance of certificates, is conducted in the best environment possible.

Knec Chairman John Onsati said the council has noted instances where some school heads fail to follow instructions.

“We have had a few cases where in the process of instructions being given, some individuals do not listen. We will not compromise,” Onsati said.
