Airbnb owner calls guests 'monkeys' in shocking racist WhatsApp rant

An Airbnb owner has been booted from the property renting site after she launched into a shockingly racist rant calling guests monkeys.

Monifah Brown, 24, had planned on renting out Giulia Ozyesilpinar's Miami property with three friends.

However, Monifah was horrified when their WhatsApp exchanges ended up with Ozyesilpinar launching into a racist tirade, claiming the Londoner had tried using a stolen credit card.

The messages, which event planner Monifah shared online, showed how Ozyesilpinar had asked for a down payment on the booking.

Monifah asked for a breakdown of the payment before explaining how the group needed until June 28, their payday, to pay the deposit.

When Ozyesilpinar refused, Monifah offered to pay the full amount on June 28, before being accused of trying to pay for the stay on multiple cards.

When Ozyesilpinar asked Monifah to share her age and a copy of a driver's licence, she happily obliged - before being told she was giving "a very bad picture for all of the black people".

When Monifah replied with a refusal to stay in the property after the racist message, Ozyesilpinar responded by repeatedly calling Brown a 'n****r' and a 'monkey' while also asking if the event planner was a 'prostitute.'

Monifah informed the Miami apartment owner that she would be reporting the messages to Airbnb and Booking.com - with both companies now banning her from using their services.

During the racist messages, Ozyesilpinar told Monifah to "shut your monkey mouth" and even appeared to send voice messages calling her a 'n****r' and making monkey noises.

After the messages were posted online and began to go viral, reviews listed on Google slammed the owner out for her behaviour.

A Google reviewer, posting under the name of Giulia Ozyesilpinar, then responded claiming she was the one who had been insulted and that the group were using stolen credit cards.

The review under Ozyesilpinar's name said: "This client from London Monifah Brown was attempting to make a reservation with a stolen credit cards when I cancelled the reservation, she started insulting me threatening me.

"When i told her and did inform London Metropolitan Police and US Embassy in London, Miami Beach Department, US Immigration Customs, things escalated.

"She kept insulting and I did insult her back she is a scam artist who was able to divert and male me look as if I was racist."

Speaking to the Miami New Times, Ozyesilpinar asserted that she didn't mind her usage of 'monkey' because "being racist is not illegal."

She said: "We live in a free world. We have freedom of speech. If I want to call somebody a monkey, I should be able to say that."

Booking.com took to Twitter in response to Monifah contacting them, saying: "Thanks for making us aware of this situation.

"We do not tolerate discriminatory behaviour of any kind on Booking.com and have closed this property on our site."

Airbnb confirmed they have removed Ozyesilpinar from their system too.
