A 50-year-old man in Kiamumbi estate along Kamiti Road, Kiambu killed his wife and then committed suicide over prolonged domestic dispute.

Police are investigating an incident in which a 50-year-old man killed his wife before taking his life in Kiamumbi estate along Kamiti Road, Nairobi.

Albert Mwangi is said to have hit his wife Milcah Mwangi on the head with a blunt object.

According to police, Albert later hanged himself at his home after committing the heinous act. He claimed to have been in a troubled marriage in a suicide note he left behind.

In the suicide note found in the house and addressed to his four children, Albert painted an image of a rocky marriage. His wife, Milcah, was in her late 40s and operated a business in the area.

The suicide note was dated May 21, 2019, the same day the bodies were found in their house.

The man claimed his wife had been threatening, tormenting and insulting him.

He thanked his pastors for trying to reconcile them.

“I didn’t know that I married a counterfeit wife. I married a Jezebel and her intention was just to steal everything from me. She has been threatening me, insulting me, she hated me… The end of the fight is over,” reads part of the note.

The compound was yesterday deserted, with the caretaker who was present saying the family was away in Kangema, Murang’a County, preparing for burial ceremony.

“You can only talk to the children who are away,” said a caretaker at the compound.

The suicide note he wrote addressing his children.

The Kiambu incident comes in the wake of an incident in which an Administration Police officer attached to Nairobi’s Umoja II Police Post shot himself dead under unclear circumstances.

Constable Johnah Kimani Wanjiru’s body was discovered by his fellow officers when they went to his house after they heard a gunshot.

He left behind a suicide note citing many issues that may have contributed to the incident.

Cases of officers committing suicide are on the rise in the country, with stress being cited as the main contributing factor.
