Former street boy Patrick Hinga’s cause of death revealed

Former street boy and drug addict Patrick Hinga died of stomach complications, his rescuer and friend, Wanja Mwaura said.

In a Facebook post, Wanja said Hinga left home on March 14, 2019, for Kayole to visit his friends. While at Kayole he developed stomach-ache but exuded optimism of managing the condition.
“On Saturday late night the problem persisted and that is when he decided to go to the hospital but by the time the mother got to him early Sunday morning, he had already passed on,” wrote Wanja.
Wanja, who is still reeling in shock, broke the news about the deceased on Sunday evening saying: “With deep sorrow, I want to inform you that Hinga has rested. He passed on this morning. I don't have the strength to say much right now. R.I.P my friend”

The late Hinga who happened to be Wanja’s schoolmate was rescued from the street in October 2017 and taken to Nairobi drug rehabilitation centre for eight months before being discharged in May 2018.
Wanja met Hinga on her way to market in Lower Kabete after she heard someone calling her name, only to meet a dirtied street boy.
The man who later introduced himself as a former classmate, as she was still struggling to identify him, was later rescued from the streets and enrolled into a rehabilitation centre.
The story of Hinga and her rescuer, Wanja, went a buzz on social media on October 2017, when pictures of Hinga who was then a street boy was massively shared locally and internationally as the online community applauded Wanja’s move of saving the man who had turned to be a shell of former self.
Wanja has promised to keep the public posted on the updates about the funeral arrangements.
