Zinedine Zidane’s return to Real Madrid has certainly got fans excited - and if president Florentino Perez’s unveiling comments are anything to go by, things could get even better.

Real reappointed Zidane as coach on a three-year deal on Monday following the sacking of Santiago Solari, who was unable to prevent an alarming run of form.

Zidane returns to the club much-loved, having won an unprecedented three consecutive Champions League titles as manager before resigning in May last year.

And during his unveiling on Monday, Perez teased the potential capture of Paris Saint-Germain's French star Kylian Mbappe, who has previously been linked with a move to Real.

Perez said: "Zidane is French, so with Mbappe he could do something, no?"

Real are believed to be prioritising the signing of a new attacker this summer, with former Barcelona star Neymar - now a teammate of Mbappe’s at PSG - another name admired by the Spanish club.

So who would Perez prefer? “I’d take them both,” he replied.

It remains to be seen if either will depart France for Spain this summer, but Perez's comments will certainly excite the Madrid support.

Zidane, who took over at Real in January 2016 after Rafa Benitez was dismissed, won the Champions League that season, before claiming a La Liga and European Cup double in 2017.

Five days after a third triumph in last season’s Champions League final over Liverpool, the former Real Madrid midfielder decided to walk away, saying it was the right moment to depart.

The 46-year-old won nine trophies at Madrid and is considered a hero by supporters after managing Real in one of the club’s most successful eras.
