Deputy President William Ruto yesterday told leaders to stay away from 2022 succession talk.

During his visit to Ndaragwa in Nyandarua, he asked leaders to focus on delivering services to the electorate.

Unlike in the past where he traversed the country opening development projects, he did not inaugurate the much-anticipated Karagoini Leshau water project in Ndaragwa.

The project has been funded by the national government at a cost of Sh100 million.

During a fundraiser at St Paul's Anglican Church in Ndaragwa, where he attended service, Dr Ruto contributed Sh1 million.

While addressing the congregation, Ruto said the Jubilee administration was focused on uniting all Kenyans and delivering on the Big Four agenda.

"This is what we are now focusing on as there is time for everything. We want to make sure that we deliver on our promises," he noted.

The DP called on leaders to unite the country for it to achieve its development agenda.

"We do not want to engage in unnecessary matters. This country can only succeed if we remain united."

The DP said Executive Order No 1 of 2019 was meant to ensure proper flow of information on the implementation of Government projects from the grassroots to the national level.

He said development committees would be formed at the grassroots to review ongoing projects and identify the ones that had stalled for necessary action to be taken.

“We want to have proper flow of information as far as the implementation of development projects from the grassroots to the national level is concerned. This is why I ask all leaders at the county level to work with such committees in ensuring implementation of such projects.”

Ruto was accompanied by Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia, his Laikipia colleague, Ndiritu Muriithi, Nyandarua Woman Representetive Faith Gitau, and several MPs including Ndaragwa's Jeremiah Kioni.
