UEFA Nations League preview: Holland and Germany meet with both in need of three points

The UEFA Nations League is set to continue over the course of this weekend, and one of the most mouth-watering clashes is set for Saturday (13 October), when Holland take on 2014 World Cup winners Germany. Following a disastrous World Cup campaign which saw the Germans eliminated at the group stage, coach Joachim Low is looking for signs of recovery in continental competition.

First things first

Before you go any further, head on over to the Oddsshark website, find your favourite betting site and get your own account up and running using your credit card. As a new customer and with the UEFA Nations League having already kicked off, there should be a whole host of promotions and special offers for you to enjoy.

Where should I be investing my money?

And while the Germans have seen a slight slip in their high standards, Holland appear to have been on the slide for over two years now. Former Dutch defender Ronald Koeman has been assigned to try and turned around his country’s fortunes, and this clash with Germany should give him a real idea of just how much work he has to do.

Holland lost their UEFA Nations League opener to France and now, playing on their own turf,  win is imperative against a strong German outfit. Encouragingly, the Dutch have lost just two of their last 10 outings across all competitions and early signs are that Koeman could get them heading in the ri9ght direction once again.

Nevertheless, it is Germany who come in as the favourites to take the points in this one. You can more than double your money by backing Low’s men to win on the road at 2.10 while Holland, despite home advantage, are at 3.50 to do the same – a draw comes in highest of all, at 3.75, according to Oddsshark.

We are expecting a tense, low-scoring affair between two teams short on morale. A narrow, 1-0 away win for Germany is priced competitively at 9.00, while you could also more than double your money by backing under 2.5 goals in the game at 2.10.

In terms of goal scorers, Leroy Sane has something to prove after being left out of his country’s World Cup squad. The Manchester City forward is at 3.10 to score at any time during the 90 minutes, while you can back him at 8.00 to net either the first or the last goal of the game.

Also, keep in mind that combos are a great way of increasing any potential winnings. For example, a Germany win combined with under 2.5 goals in the game comes in at 5.50, rather than simply backing an away win at 2.10.

Ireland need a strong recovery against Denmark

Ireland boss Martin O’Neill is in need of an upturn in fortunes himself following a turbulent year or so in the hot seat. The Irish failed to make it to the World Cup earlier this summer after losing 5-1 to Denmark on their own turf.

And this coming Saturday they take on Denmark once again in Dublin, where a victory would go a long way to easing the pain of that failure. However, recent signs are not good for Ireland, as they lost their UEFA Nations League opener 4-1 to Wales.

Denmark had been on a poor run of form themselves but put an end to four games without a win with a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Welsh. Now they will be looking to make it two wins from two in this new-look tournament, confident in the memory of their comprehensive victory over this opponent just 12 months ago.

And while the betting is close, it is Denmark who come in as the favourites to win once again. You can more than double your money by backing Denmark to take all three points at 2.62, while you could more than triple any investment by backing the Irish at 3.10 – a draw is at the same odds.

And with home advantage and the crowd behind them, we fancy Ireland to snatch a closely fought encounter. A 2-1 win for the Irish comes in at 12.00, thereby offering more than a ten-fold return on any investment, while you can more than double your money by backing over 2.5 goals in the game, t 2.50, and both teams to score, at 2.10.
