Following fans’ ‘unsporting’ behavior during the CAF Confederation match against Rayon Sports at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani in August, the Confederation of African football (CAF) has moved to fine Gor Mahia sh500,000.

According to Gor Mahia’s official portal, CAF sent a letter to the club on Tuesday explaining why the fine was imposed.

“In the meeting held in Caf Headquaters in Cairo, Egypt on 8th September, the board examined all documents… the officials indicated in their reports that: “The spectators were good until the second goal of Rayon Sport, when they – Gor Mahia’s supporters threw bottles and other objects at the players…The CAF Disciplinary Board decided to impose upon your club a financial sanction of 5,000 dollars for unsporting and offensive behaviours of your supporters,” read part of the letter.

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier stated they will see how to handle the situation since the club was given three days to appeal the decision.

“We will examine the decision and weigh out options well then decide if we will announce our intention to appeal,” he said.

He urged fans to avoid such incidences, saying the consequences will always be heavy.

Gor Mahia’s counterparts Rayon sports and USM Alger were also fined following chaso that erupted during their match in Algeria.

On Wednesday, Gor Mahia lost their fourth consecutive match in all competitions, going down 2-0 to a rejuvenated Ulinzi Stars side at the Machakos Stadium.
